loren costantini was born in 1968 and grew up in an artist’s family in the woods of connecticut. he was entrenched in art since the day he could hold a crayon. he was taught to observe life through the eyes of a farmer, carpenter, machinist, architect, artist and lawyer. he began the formal study of art with a local sculptor working in clay at age 8 and attended paier art college in hamden, connecticut, while still in high school. his education continued at the syracuse university school of architecture. loren achieved a bachelors of arts in psychology in 1990 and a juris doctor from quinnipiac college school of law in 1995. in addition to his annual 30 years of self portraits he has been quite prolific throughout his life.
loren is predominately a sculptor working in metals, wood, concrete, plastic and various found and recycled pieces. his years spent in the metal and wood shop are reflected in his technical marriage of varying mediums. his works range from abstract wood carvings, portraits constructed of wire and metals, vessels made from tissue paper and two part epoxy, contemporary furniture and the design of interior and exterior spaces. he is best known for his large scale public art sculptures.
in 2010, his sculpture, flower (aka: yellow flower), was selected for the prestigious 25th annual national rosen outdoor sculpture competition at appalachian state university in boone, north carolina. he has exhibited his work at the wave gallery in new haven, connecticut, the brenda taylor gallery in chelsea new york, the seafair in greenwich, connecticut, the river gallery in westport, connecticut, at a year-long exhibit in aurora, coloardo, at many public events and in several connecticut towns. in 2012, he created a large scale garden installation at the highline park in chelsea, new york. in 2014, three of loren's latest works from his lorenflower series were auctioned at benefits in new york city and los angeles for the get in touch cancer foundation and the resiliency center which supports the sandy hook community.
he is the founder of c2m, llc, a creative design firm, which is a collaborative of several multi-medium artists who are dedicated to delivering a message of good spirit to the general public through art. c2m offers boutique products, and temporary and permanent, interior or exterior art installations of any size and medium.
